SWEET DREAMSBalinese bedecked bench couch Visions swirling, how I'd slouch, Orange cushions piled up high, I could lounge around and sigh, Sipping jasmin tea all day, Read a book, or paint and play. Dress up in me finery, Restaurants and winery, Act out antique dealer's life, Pawn the jewellery (and the wife!) Swishing cotton muslin dress, Let the house get in a mess, Waft around while glasses clink, Fix meself a little drink, Yes, I can just see me now, The highlife for a lazy cow ! But it's all in make-believe, Trying hard to just relieve, Tension from a mounting sink, There's no time to pour a drink, Only chance for a quick rest - On the lav is where it's best ! No point spending all that dosh, Better just to fix me nosh, In them dreams that's just not me, I'd pass out or spill me tea, Cushions full of muddy paws, In white cheesecloth on all fours, Mopping endless doggy wee, Never mind that calm fruit tea, With four posters on that frame I'd end up a Panto Dame, Tangled in mosquito nets, Beaten down by all me debts, Best to leave it in the shop, Unless of course the prices drop ! I spied too that silver throne, This Queen's visions have just grown, Soon I'll need a brand new flat, To accommodate the tat, Or perhaps I'll flog the lot, Settle for a simple cot, Somewhere just to lay me head, I only want a comfy bed ! luv doris, the new age guru x |
