Letter from JuanI must admit I find it difficult these days to get my head around the wasteful throwaway society that we now live in. Repairing things seems to be a thing of the past you just throw it out and buy a replacement. When I flew through Barcelona last week I was amazed to see the new airport but I was somewhat shocked to see what was the old terminal and wondered what exactly is going to happen to it. Is it going to be thrown away? I felt sorry for the retail outlets when they started renting the units and spent money fitting it out, little did they realize that what they thought they were investing in - a new vibrant business environment, would a few years down the line turn out to be a ghost terminal. Maybe it is different in the summer but it certainly looks a very sad place at this time of the year.
I am over in England at the time of writing this letter although by the time you read it I will either be travelling back or I will be home. England also is not a very vibrant place at this moment in time maybe it is a combination of the usual dull grey days of winter and post Christmas blues, or perhaps they are conserving their energy for the Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee. Talking of lacking in energy I must admit I am feeling that I am running at a slightly low level at the moment. It is probably due to the fact that I have been kept very busy by the little people. I am not talking about people who are vertically challenged I am referring to young children. They certainly keep you on your toes. If it is not playing on the Wii it is playing with the toy cars, going ten pin bowling or playing games on my “puter”. In fact it took me several minutes before I could write this letter as I could hardly see the screen for smudges and fingerprints. So I am looking forward to getting home and do something restful like painting a bedroom! I hope you have a relaxing week,
yours, Juan.
